May 18, 1:00 P.M. Brunch: A Kamayan Feast From The Filipino-Inspired Kora Bakery

May 18, 2024 01:00 PM

Filipino-Inspired Sweet and Savory Bites and Beverages from the Team Behind Doughnut Sensation Kora Bakery

25 11th Ave, New York, NY 10011, USA

Ever since launching Kora, the Filipino bakery that began in chef Kimberly Camara’s apartment during the pandemic, Camara and her partner Kevin Borja have garnered a cult following for their colorful fried brioche doughnuts and other pastries inspired by Kimberly’s heirloom recipes. As an online-only business, Kora amassed a waitlist of over 10,000 people in its first year. Now, as they transition into their first brick-and-mortar, Kora is bringing their new sweet and savory concept to Platform with a Filipino-inspired Kamayan afternoon tea. Known for being the ultimate Filipino communal-style feast, Kamayan is the traditional Filipino method of eating with bare hands. Chef Kimberly and Kevin are creating a bevy of sweet and savory pastries and snacks served alongside curated Filipino cocktails and traditional Philippine tisanes and coffee. Come for an unforgettable culinary experience that celebrates the richness of Filipino culture the Kora way.

About Kimberly Camara and Kevin Borja, Co-Founders of Kora:
Kimberly Camara is the chef and co-founder of Kora, a Filipino-inspired bakery started alongside co-founder Kevin Borja after industry lay-offs during COVID-19. Established during the summer of 2020, Kora’s motives lie broadly in the exposition of the richness that exists within Filipino culture, and intimately in tribute to co-founder and chef Kimberly Camara’s late grandmother, Corazon. Both veterans of the New York City hospitality industry, Kimberly, a Culinary Institute of America alum and Filipino Queens-native, alongside Kevin, whose passion lies in hospitality & service, explore Filipino culture and cuisine through heirloom recipes combined with their decades of experience in food and beverage.
