About Michele McQueen:
Chef Michele was born in Orange, New Jersey and raised in Oakland, California. She spent much of her youth in the kitchen by her grandmother’s side—soaking up all the knowledge and history of Southern cuisine. After graduating from Howard University, she was on her way to law school, but took a detour to the hospitality industry and never looked back.

She went on to own and operate over five restaurants in the Bay Area and now has over 25 years under her belt. Known for her ability to make soul food taste like your Southern grandmother’s, chef McQueen now shares these time-honored traditions with cultural influences at Town Fare, housed inside the Oakland Museum.
