Immerse yourself in an afternoon apéro celebrating the refreshing aperitifs, the briny snacks, and the blue skies of Southeastern France. Le Sud, the new book from James Beard Award–nominated author Rebekah Peppler, is the definitive guide to the food, drink, and lifestyle of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.  
Based in France, Peppler has spent years traveling between her home in Paris and Provence. Le Sud is her love letter to this dynamic and beguiling region. Joining Rebekah in conversation is fellow Francophile, Melissa Clark—the beloved New York Times Cooking columnist and a James Beard Award–winning author of more than 40 cookbooks.
Light snacks from the book and Lillet Rosé cocktails will be served.

About Rebekah Peppler: 
Rebekah Peppler is a Paris-based writer, stylist, and author. She is the author of Le Sud, À Table, the James Beard Award–nominated Apéritif, and Honey, a Short Stack Edition. She is a regular contributor to the New York Times. Her recipes and food and travel writing have appeared in Condé Nast Traveler, Vanity Fair, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and elsewhere. When she’s not working, you can find her cooking, eating, and drinking in the 18th arrondissement, where she lives with her partner.  

About Melissa Clark:
Melissa Clark is a food columnist for the New York Times/ NYT Cooking, where she writes the popular column: A Good Appetite and has starred in over 100 cooking videos. She’s written 45 cookbooks, the latest of which, Dinner in One focuses on one-pot, one-pan, one-skillet meals. She’s the recipient of two James Beard Awards and two IACP awards (International Association of Culinary Professionals), and her work has been selected for the Best American Food Writing series. Melissa attended Barnard College, and then Columbia University, where she earned her Masters of Fine Arts in Writing from the School of the Arts. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she lives there with her husband and daughter. She loves anchovies, radishes, chicken feet, and lox but not in that order. 

Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.
