Oakland, California, fondly known as “the Town,” is home to a diverse mix of cultures and cuisines. For one night only, three of Oakland’s top chefs will be at Platform for a collab dinner that highlights the culinary spirit of this vibrant city. Featuring Indigenous cuisine from Crystal Wahpepah, soulful comfort food from Michele McQueen, and Pan-African fare from Nelson German, this special dinner brings Oakland’s finest all the way to New York City.

Chipotle-Glazed Sweet Plantains with Avocado Mousse, Sofrito Agrodolce, California Feta, and Spiced Hazelnuts 

Cream Co. Pork Pintxo with Blueberry–Miso Jus and Plantain Furikake

Dinner 

Cajun Crab Beignets with Buttermilk, Herb Oil, Charred Corn, and Tabasco Pearls 

Heirloom Kickapoo White Corn Soup with Stock, Smoked Turkey, and Squash 

Braised Angus Oxtail with Piri-Piri Plantain, Charred Pearl Onions, Queso Fresco, Pickled Yuca, Salsa Verde Oil, and Smoked Tamarind Mole 

Chocolate Mousse with Toasted Pecan–Graham Cracker Crust, Salted Caramel, Meringue, and Tsar Nicoulai Caviar


Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.

James Beard Foundation events permit guests age 21 years and older to attend events where alcoholic beverages are served.

Events at Platform by JBF are special one-night-only menus and we do not offer a la carte menus. If you have serious food allergies, we will work with the visiting chef team to do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee that alternate options will be available for every course.
